The irony wasn’t lost on me when a dear friend of mine threw down the gauntlet and challenged me to write a piece without a sex scene. Struggle you say, it’s like pouring molasses in winter, the story is trickling out a few words at a time. I understand my friend’s reasoning to jar me out of my status quo and let go of writing habits that fits like like that old pair of jeans such as using intimacy to resolve conflicts or move the storyline forward. Now, I have to explore other means to propel the story onwards and fix hiccups between the paramours and somehow all I see is my blinking cursor. Time to close my laptop and pick up my yarn.
