In this final book of the series Carina and Ryan rebuild the relationship they built on lies and deceit. The estranged brothers reconnect while Carina’s mother makes trouble with her continued attempts to blackmail money from everyone, grandma gets the best rehab care courtesy of Alex, and the board of trustees get antsy because even though Ryan has found his spark there’s yet any wedding plans announced even though the deadline is looming so it’s looking more and more like he’ll lose his inheritance and the company they built.
Without any real resolutions of the conflicts or doubts between Carina and Ryan everything is wrapped up in a neat bow at the final will reading, the last envelope that could only be opened five years after his father’s passing on Ryan’s fortieth birthday or on his wedding day if he got married before that date, is opened and they play the video recording their father left for them. The inheritance is split between the two brothers even though both are unmarried and Ryan gets his father’s seat at the round table. Everyone celebrates the end.
Rhodes character development didn’t improve which is a shame because they had great potential but she didn’t take the time to actually bring them to life they remained as flat as paper dolls and some passages were an obvious copy & paste from the two previous books of the series, for such a short novella original work would have been appreciated instead of recycled material. Lazy writing, lackluster characters made this a 1.5 star read.
