This Age Gap Billionaire Romance is a novella of 120 pages therefore a quick with an improved flow in the plot line however characters are still two dimensional.
In this second book of the series, Rhodes continues the Cinderella theme created in Until Midnight when Carina returns to the next Carnival Ball to find her prince under the instruction of her Fairy Godfather. Ryan is waiting for her at the curb since he knows which car she’ll be pulling up in and patiently waits for it to arrive. When it does and she steps out of it the spark hits him all over again. He knows she’s the one. Ryan whisks her away from the madness and takes Carina on their first date for burgers and fries at a dinner he used to work at as a kid.
It’s during this date when Carina seems oblivious to who he is that Ryan decides to keep his ‘mask’ on longer he wants her to love him for him and not the money signs attached to his family name and his inheritance but the longer the charades keeps going the harder it is for him to find the right moment to tell her who he really is.
Rhodes doesn’t make it easy for Cinderella and her prince, Carina’s mother shows up on her doorstep, a mother she thought dead for the past twenty-three years after being abandoned at age two. Turns out her mother is a con artist and her grandmother warns her to be careful around her and not to trust her, because there is only one thing her mother wants: money. And when Carina refuses to give in to her demand, she accosts Ryan and tries to blackmail him into a large sum payment to keep his ‘pauper’ ruse.
Alex, Carina’s Fairy Godfather with his sinister plan is relentless in his pursuit to make Carina break Ryan’s heart no matter how many times she goes to him to call his deal off or to find another way to work for him he refuses and reminds her of all the money she will owe him for the medical care he’s provided for her dear granny. And yet somehow Carina finds comfort in this man? Looks to him as a big brother for security? Even when Alex freely tells her he loves her and will take the leftovers because he must, Carina is confused by his admission yet she doesn’t stop going to him for support. And as an added twist Rhodes reveals that Alex and Ryan are brothers oh how the plot thickens for the next book of the series Until Forever.
The improved plot line helped the reading flow and although the characters have lots of potential they’re hard to connect with too superficial, not enough depth which makes this another 2.5 read.
