Being that kid who went to a high school with a mandatory uniform: navy skirts for girls, pants for boys, white button-up shirts for all, long sleeves in winter and short ones in summer, knee-high navy socks, black shoes all around, and the only choice given to students was a green bow tie or regular one. Well, let me tell you, after my high school years, this uniform got burned in the fire pit at my cottage, and ever since then, I swore to myself never again.
To this day, I uphold that promise. I’m no fashionista. Quite the contrary, my kids would say, since I’m that mom who barely tolerates shopping and will go only when forced to. I keep my clothes forever, which annoys my children because my go-to outfits are comfy, like yoga pants and a cami top or shorts and a cami top. Sometimes, I’ll change it up and wear jeans and T-shirts. I also have summer and maxi dresses in my mix of comfy outfits. And I have those outfits that make me feel fabulous for special occasions, but the one thing I won’t do is dress in stuffy clothes that make me feel uncomfortable.
Why would I? Why would anyone?
