Romance doesn’t have to be a complicated or exaggerated show with flowers, chocolates, and public declarations of love.
No, I’ll take my husband’s steady hand in mine, helping me out of the shower when my migraine makes me so dizzy I can’t see straight, or his quiet concern when the pain overwhelms me, and he brings me my ice packs to wrap around my head.
Don’t get me wrong; he still brings me flowers just because he thinks they will bring a smile to my face, which is so adorable. And we both plan date nights even after almost thirty years together.
So to me, I suppose it’s the little everyday things, being there for each other in times of need and, most of all, carving out time for the two of us and watching a movie, cuddling on the couch, walking hand in hand downtown, having an intimate dinner at our favorite restaurant it doesn’t have to be fancy as long as we take the time to reconnect, find our quiet in this busy world.
