There are so many words in the universe. Giving up one is tough because, as a writer, I enjoy using them at random to liven up a piece or dramatizing one, or creating that perfect cliffhanger to get my audience on the edge of their seat.
Honestly, if I have to give up one, maybe it should be the one my editor hates the most in my manuscripts: the word ‘but’.
I swear she detests it when I insert this word in my writing, saying it’s a cheap cop out, yet sometimes there’s no other word that fits. So can I really give it up?
I write erotic romance, LGBTQIA2S+, and BDSM with a ghostly twist. As a writer, dreamer, and avid reader, I inhabit fantastical worlds and have a penchant for book boyfriends. I may sometimes forget myself in a book. It may take me a minute or two to remember where, or who I am: a mother, a lover, a sister, a daughter, a friend, a confidante, a bit crazy and neurotic, and totally okay with who I am. Join the madness where my quirky, sarcastic sense of humor and easygoing temperament shine through on the page, and let yourself fall in love or lust. Happy reading, everyone.
