What an odd question, but let’s give it a gander.
Life without a computer would be like the 80s again, when information wasn’t at our fingertips and we needed to search in encyclopedias, dictionaries, phone books, and yellow pages, and memorize numbers instead of relying on technology to have them on hand for us.
It’d be columns in newspapers getting our fingers blackened by the ink as we read them in the mornings, enjoying coffee, tea, or orange juice, instead of scrolling the net, reading blog posts. The art of writing letters and posting them would be back in fashion; maybe then the postal service would stop calling strikes, since they have fun things to deliver, who knows.
Without my trusty computer at the ready to write up all the stories brewing in my head, I have to admit it’d be sad and difficult, but that’s what pen and paper are for: doing it the old-school way, longhand in cursive.
Oh, good gosh. I’m having flashbacks to my school days, when assignments required us to run to the library for reference books and various source materials to prove or disprove our hypotheses.
Indeed, life without computers would be more time-consuming, yet more enriching, as the knowledge gained would be more tangible than the click of a mouse.
Considering I’ve already lived through the 80s, I’m good, thanks. I’ll keep my computer, if only to make it easier on myself for those days when my migraine subsides and I feel like writing; typing is much easier than writing in cursive.
