One of my favorite moments as an author didn’t happen online.
It happened this morning at the local library near my parents’ home.
I walked into their branch carrying signed copies of my Raven’s Point series. I wasn’t there to promote a new release or sell books. I simply wanted to give something back to a place that has always been a gateway to imagination and discovery.
The staff graciously accepted my donation.
Then something happened that completely caught me by surprise.
After looking through the series, they told me they would also be purchasing copies for the second branch they manage.
As an author, there are milestones you dream about. Seeing your books on a library shelf is certainly one of them. Knowing they’ll be available in not just one branch, but two, is something I’m incredibly grateful for.
Libraries are more than buildings filled with books. They’re places where readers discover new worlds, where children fall in love with stories, and where communities come together through the written word. Every book on those shelves has the chance to become someone’s next favorite adventure.
If you’re an author, I’d encourage you to consider donating a signed copy of your books to your local library. Independent authors often talk about reaching new readers, and libraries are one of the most meaningful places to do exactly that. A single donated book can introduce your stories to countless readers over the years.
To the wonderful staff at the library, thank you for welcoming Raven’s Point onto your shelves and for believing in local authors. Your kindness meant more than you know.
